I am an aspiring creative designer and a recent graduate from Kingston University, where I studied a Masters in ‘Communication Design: Graphics’, achieving a 1st. In June of 2020, I completed a Fine Art Degree at York St John University with a 2:1. There I curated a graphical style of work, which predominantly concerned Visual Communication and Graphic Design. This helped me choose my path as a creative designer. I am passionate about the design of magazines, including the portrayal of the people inside, and featured on the cover. Furthermore, I examine stereotypes, the representation of people in the media, and whether the 'perfect' body image exists. I have been known to use high end fashion magazines, industry models, Instagram, and influencer imagery as inspiration for my projects. I further develop the imagery, giving them a new concept. I am particularly interested in socially engaged design. Colour is an important aspect of my work, being something that I am enthused about using. This is visible in the variety of projects that I produce, displayed in my portfolio. During my time at Kingston, I continued with all these themes, whilstalso pushing myself out of my comfort zone, as well as exploring new ideas for projects. My personal practice has been immersed in the Socially Engaged Design platform. It became clear to me, that my work reflects social change, especially surrounding the topic of women. My Final Major Project: "Distorted Perfection", summarises my passions effectively. I created my own magazine, challenging "perfection" and "ideologies" for women's bodies within social media, particularly within the social media platform: Instagram.
