AFRICAN ART PROJECT AS-LEVEL (2015)

Our first A-Level project was to develop our individual project, based off of something that had inspired us. Within my art department library I found book about African masks and face art. I found it incredibly beautiful and mesmerising. I used this resource and translated it using my own perspective and ideas, exploring how it would look developed using a different culture. For the community I had witnessed and sought inspiration from, this style of painting was part of everyday life and was normal to wear it daily. The same can't be said for my westernised culture. I practiced applying the designs and techniques utilising photography.
